Over 100 people have already registered to take part in a sponsored beach walk between Burnham-On-Sea and Brean Down on Sunday 1st April to raise funds for the disability charity Scope.
But organiser Mike Barsby is keen to hear from anyone else who would like to take part.
He says the 16-mile trek should take four to five hours, allowing for a picnic lunch at Brean Down, where all participants will get free refreshments.
Whilst it will be mainly a family fun event, medals will be awarded to the first ten walkers who arrive at the Down.
Apart from taking part and enjoying the company of fellow walkers, the main purpose will be to beat the 2004 record when a similar event raised more than £1,000 for the charity Scope.
Scope helps the families of, and those coping with, Cerebral Palsy and campaigns for equal rights and opportunities for disabled people.
Mike told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our two previous sponsored walks have been very enjoyable events with a lovely party atmosphere The walkers found the day very rewarding as they felt a great sense of achievement at completing the event and raising money for a worthwhile cause.”
“Please join us, the distance is quite manageable for most people and in previous years ages ranged from under 10s to over 60s. It’s a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air, get some exercise, and see parts of our beach that you may not have seen before.”
“If you want to join in, but don’t fancy 16 miles then Berrow beach and back is a shorter option. As the walk takes place on April Fools Day, silly hats and clothing will be encouraged!”
