Burnham-On-Sea Infants School will remain temporarily closed for the rest of the week as it recovers from flooding over the weekend.
A spokesperson for the school told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Due to the severity of the flood the school will remain closed for the rest of this week and we will update parents on Friday.”
Water gushed out of a faulty boiler system along corridors, leaving 2-3 inches of standing water throughout the building, as pictured here.
Staff at the school started a clean-up operation on Monday (May 21st) in an attempt to open the school later this week but the clean up operation is taking longer than first thought.
Headteacher Janet Sadiq told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday: “It was quite a shock to see the water everywhere this morning – it’s not been a good start to the week. Water had been coming out of a pipe all weekend, causing flooding throughout the building.”
