Burnham-On-Sea Infants School has been temporarily closed due to flooding over the weekend.
Water gushed out of a faulty boiler system along corridors, leaving 2-3 inches of standing water throughout the building, as pictured here.
Staff at the school started a clean-up operation on Monday morning (May 21st) in an attempt to open the school later this week.
Headteacher Janet Sadiq told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was quite a shock to see the water everywhere this morning – it’s not been a good start to the week.”
“Water had been coming out of a pipe all weekend, causing flooding throughout the building.”
She added that the school will remain closed on Tuesday (May 22nd) but it is hoped it will re-open later this week. More details on Burnham-On-Sea.com to follow.
