St Joseph’s schoolchildren visit Burnham-On-Sea RNLI Station
Pupils from Burnham’s St Joseph’s School visited the town’s lifeboat station on Wednesday to mark the RNLI’s Save Our Soles Day.
The 60 youngsters and staff heard about the lifeboats and special launching tractors, and were also shown some of the station’s life-saving clothing and equipment, as pictured.
They also heard about the fascinating history of lifeboats in Burnham and were given a guided tour of the station by crew members.
There were chances for the children to ask questions and the pupils distinguished themselves both in their good behaviour and involvement of the visit.
Shirley Vickery-Mills, a representative of the school, said: “The children found the visit interesting and ‘wicked!'”
As an extra bonus, the children also had a chance to visit Burnham-On-Sea’s hovercraft station.
