People in the Burnham-On-Sea area are being given an extra chance to apply for free saplings from a local garden centre after it extended its giveaway deadline.
Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre has extended the deadline for applications in the Burnham area to Monday, February 29th to give people creating wildlife habitats an extra chance to apply.
Andrew Pitman, Store Manager at the garden centre at Monkton Heathfield near Bridgwater, explained: “We know people are very busy so they may not have had a chance to submit their entries for our sapling giveaway yet, which is why we have extended the deadline to Monday, February 29th.”
“We’ll be giving people 16 free young trees, to mark the year 2016, that can be used in a variety of ways including for hedging and small woodland areas, therefore improving the environment.”
“We’re especially keen to help people who want to create a space in their garden or on their land to attract more wildlife. We believe protecting wildlife is extremely important and want to encourage more people to provide shelter and food for various animals.”
“We do have a limited number available and are allocating them on a first come, first served basis, so we urge people to submit their requests as soon as possible.”
People should write in to Andrew Pitman at the garden centre giving details of their project and why they think they deserve to receive a group of saplings.
The successful applicants will be invited to come and collect their trees from the garden centre at a mutually convenient time. By entering the giveaway, the winner or winners have agreed to take part in publicity.
Requests for the saplings should be posted to: Andrew Pitman, Store Manager, Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, Monkton Heathfield, Taunton, TA2 8QN. The closing date for requests is 5pm on Monday, February 29th, 2016.
