Core blimey! Apple weekend pulls in the crowds at Garden World
Hundreds of people visited Sanders Garden World near Burnham-On-Sea at the weekend to see one of the largest collection of apple varieties in the South West.
Staff at the garden centre, in association with local apple growers and cider makers, put together a display of 500 apple varieties for the site’s fifth annual Apple & Cider Weekend.
Garden centre Managing Director, Peter Burks, explained: “We joined forces with Brogdale Horticultural Trust in Kent to display 500 apple varieties for people to see. It was one of the largest collections in the South West.”
Customers were offered the chance to sample different apples for free and receive expert advice on how to select, grow and care for apple trees. The event was a celebration of Somerset apples and cider and coincided with the UK’s annual Common Ground Apple Day.
