Over 250 Scouts, Beavers, Cubs and Explorers from across the district gathered on Burnham-On-Sea beach on Tuesday evening (June 10th) for a mass sandcastle building competition.

Scouts from Burnham, Highbridge, Cheddar, Bridgwater, Cannington, Wedmore, Weare and Berrow took part in the competition besides the town’s jetty.

One of the organisers, Pam Jamieson, said she was delighted at the turn-out, which had been boosted by the weather. “We’ve had a great evening and the weather made perfect conditions for sandcastle building!”

This year’s judges were Burnham and Highbridge town councillor Pat Burge and Veronica Richardson and Pam Jamieson. Pat told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were very impressed by the effort that was put into all the entries. A lot of thought went into creating some very original designs in the sand.”
