Over 20 of the UK’s leading sand yachting enthusiasts headed to Brean beach over the weekend to compete in the two-day British Land Yachting Championships.
The event was hosted by Brean Land Yacht Club and began on Saturday (November 12th) and concluded on Sunday.
Rhys Davies, Chairman of the British Federation of Land Yachting, told Burnham-On-Sea.com during Sunday’s racing: “The wind has been borderline here all weekend so not all races have gone ahead as hoped.”
“However, there has been some good racing in between and Brean is a good venue for us.”
Last year’s event was cancelled due to a lack of wind, as Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here. During ideal conditions, the yachts speed across the sand at up to 60mph, making quite a spectacle.
