Disgruntled Highbridge residents are calling on the district council to remove a heap of builder’s sand which has been left unused in a car park for several months and is being spread across the tarmac by youngsters.
Several PCSOs from Burnham police station were called to the Bank Street car park in recent days after local youngsters constructed BMX jumps in the sand.
One local resident, who asked not to be named, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The police have better things to do – it’s about time this was cleared up. It’s not a safe place for children to play, especially with cars all around.”
A spokesman for Sedgemoor District Council, which operates the car park, said they would be pressing the building company which owns the material to remove it shortly.
