Nineteen jobs lost at Highbridge conservatory maker

-

Ninteen full-time jobs have been lost at a Highbridge joinery company as the recession continues to affect local firms.

David Salisbury Joinery, which is based on Highbridge’s Isleport Industrial Estate, specialises in quality conservatory and hardwood goods.

It said this week that it has laid off the staff from a total workforce of 130 due to falling trade.

David Salisbury, managing director of the firm, said he was saddened by the losses and that it had been a “difficult decision.”

Founded in 1984, the company opened a purpose-built factory in 2002 as part of an investment programme in excess of £1 million that included introducing a modern joinery line.
