Safety upgrade for Burnham-On-Sea pedestrian crossing underway this week

-

Work is underway this week to boost safety at a Burnham-On-Sea pedestrian crossing in the town.

Burnham County Councillor Peter Clayton, pictured, has secured funding for the improvement scheme to upgrade the zebra crossing on Berrow Road, near the junction with Rectory Road.

The work by Somerset County Council aims to improve its visibility and is underway this week.

“We will be replacing the crossing infrastructure with more visible lit poles, more efficient beacons and a downlight on to the crossing itself,” explained Kerry Jones, Principle project manager for Somerset County Council.

Cllr Clayton added: “I am delighted that my scheme was accepted and the work has started.”

“This is a much-needed improvement and it will make the crossing much more visible and safer for the residents in that area.”
