A unique safeguarding evening is to be held at King Alfred School Academy this evening (Thursday, June 20th) when parents will be able to find how to keep children safe from modern dangers.

The free event will start at 6pm and ends at around 7pm with presentations from several local groups. Doors open at 5.45pm.

Somewhere House Somerset will give an introduction to the support they provide for the school.

Student welfare issues such as anxiety, self harm, and eating disorders will be covered by Young Somerset and Share.

Student safeguarding will also be discussed by Avon and Somerset Police, covering topics such as sexting, online grooming and e-safety.

Organiser Mrs Suzanne Lawrence of King Alfred School Academy said: “It is important for parents to be aware of the outside influences that can impact on their child’s wellbeing.”

“When we held this event last November the feedback was overwhelmingly positive and we were encouraged to repeat.”

The meeting will be in E Block. If anybody would like any further information then call the school on 01278 784881 and ask for Mrs Lawrence.
