Russian children’s orchestra to perform in Burnham-On-Sea tomorrow

A Russian children’s orchestra is to perform in Burnham-On-Sea for the first time this Saturday (June 22nd).

The Sobinov Children’s Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments have arrived in the UK this week to play a series of concerts across the country.

They have travelled 3,500 miles by coach from their home town of Yaroslavl, east of Moscow.

The youngsters are aged between 12 and 18 and play traditional Russian folk Instruments which include balalaikas, bayans, domras and percussion.

The group will be performing at The Princess Theatre at 7.30pm, with tickets priced at £8/£5. Details from the box office on 01278 784464 (10am-3pm).

The Sobinov Children’s Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments was founded in 1962 and celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. They are active participants at different festivals all over the world.
