Members of Burnham-On-Sea Rugby Club have this week been celebrating one of their most memorable-ever victories.
The club’s second team beat North Petherton 98-0 in a league clash on Saturday afternoon, one of the club’s biggest ever points wins.
“Burnham launched themselves at Petherton and the ferocity of their attack stunned the opposition,” a club spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“It was an epic performance by all who contributed to a fine display of rugby. All credit is given to a Petherton side that did not lie down at any time.”
Tries were scored by Chris Jones (2); Tom Hocking (2); Ginge Somerhay (2); Ryan Jones (2); Lee Berry (1); Mark O’Regan (1); Alex Watkins (1); Chris Warner (1); Dan Berry (2); Mike Whitfield (1); Mike Smith (1). Mike Whitfield converted nine of the tries.
It comes a week after North Petherton’s first team beat Burnham’s first team in a closely-fought cup tie at home 13-14.
