Royal couple will receive gift and telegram from Burnham-On-Sea

-

The Town Council is to send a telegram and a small gift to Prince William and Kate Middleton on behalf of Burnham and Highbridge when the couple tie the knot this Spring.

Town councillors agreed on Monday evening (January 17th) that they will be sending a small present, likely to be a painting of a local landmark, to the Royal pair.

Cllr Neville Jones said: “It’s right that the council sends a congratulatory telegram to the couple, along with a small gift, in order to assure them of all our good wishes.”

It’s been proposed that a mounted painting of Burnham’s beach lighthouse will be suitable.

Meanwhile, Town Clerk Eileen Shaw is appealing for any local residents who are organising street parties and other Royal wedding events to contact her by email here as the town council will be taking on a co-ordinating role for the local celebrations.
