A couple who married on the day after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have had a baby boy on the same day as the new Royal Prince!
Liam and Emma Belgrove, who have family in Burnham and frequently visit the town, welcomed their new son, Oliver, on Monday, just hours before the birth of the infant Prince George.
Emma went into labour at 6am on Monday, the same time that the Duchess was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in London.
Liam and Emma’s son, Oliver James Derek Belgrove, was born at 11:54am on Monday, weighing 7lb 1oz. The Royal baby was born at 4.24pm and weighed 8lb 6oz.
Liam told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’d spoken quite a lot about the Royal baby during Emma’s pregnancy.”
“We always joked that the Royals copied our wedding plans because when we announced we were getting married around two weeks later the William and Kate did the same, and they picked the day before us.”
“Then we announced to friends and family that Emma was pregnant just a week or two later the Royals announced that they were also expecting a baby!”
“I said to my wife that everyone goes on about Will and Kate being a trend-setter, but they are just copying us!”
“Just after Emma had gone into hospital on Monday we had a text from my father saying that Kate had also gone into labour – and soon after Oliver was born.”
“We were over-the-moon that we could share the same date as the Royal baby. Who in this day and age doesn’t love the Royal family and now our son shares his birthday with the future king – it’s brilliant!”
The couple frequently visit family in Burnham and plan to visit soon. “I’m certain Oliver’s first real journey away from home will be down to Burnham,” said Liam.
Babies born on the same day as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child will receive a free ‘lucky’ silver penny. It will be presented in a pink or blue pouch, has been marked with the year 2013 to commemorate the babies’ year of birth and features a shield of the Royal Arms.
