Pub looks set to be demolished and replaced by five new homes

-

A once popular pub on the outskirts of Highbridge could soon be demolished and replaced with five new homes.

The Royal Artillery Arms in West Huntspill’s Alstone Lane shut last year after struggling to survive during the financial downturn.

Now, the pub’s owner has applied for full planning permission to demolish the building and build five homes in its place.

Consultation on the plans began this week and residents have until February 28th to make comments to Sedgemoor District Council’s planning team. The earliest a decision could then be made is March.

The West Huntspill pub is the latest in a series of local pub closures during recent years.
