A huge £2,300 cheque was handed over to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance by members of Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club on Thursday night (February 28th) following a successful fundraising event earlier in the year.
The money was raised during an evening of wassailing organised by the Rotary Club at Rich’s Cider Farm during January when, in a time-honoured Somerset tradition, good health was wished on apple trees and crops for the coming year.
Sir Bernard Knight accepted the cheque from Rotary Club President Colin Durston and both Jan Scott and Martin Rich from Rich’s Cider Farm during a special presentation at Brent Knoll’s Battleborough Grange Hotel.
Sir Bernard said: “We’re very grateful for this fantastic doantion. The only reason we have such a succesful air ambulance service is down to people like you.”
During Thursday’s event, the Rotorians also handed over a cheque for £370 to John Palmer (pictured above) towards the work of SURE, the Taunton-based Somerset Unit for Radiography Equipment.
