A Burnham-On-Sea teenager is planning to help a cancer support charity by donating locks of his hair.
Ross Burland, 15, has not had a hair cut for 15 months in order to help a charity called The Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs to children across the UK who have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
The organisation provides wigs free of charges to boys and girls, however the cost to the charity to purchase one wig is on average £350.
Ross’ hair is now at the required length to help the charity, so he’s planning to have his cut on Sunday 15th February at Burnham’s Beaux Cheveux hair salon.
Alongside the hair cut, he is also raising sponsorship funds with all the proceeds going towards the cost of having the wigs made for the charity.
Among those supporting him is his mother Wendy, who says: “It makes me feel very lucky to have healthy children; you never know what life has in store to throw your way, and I would like to think that anyone that is so unfortunate to have to go through cancer treatment would in some way benefit from this.”
Ross said: “I have been growing my hair for a while now because I want to donate it to The Little Princess Trust. This superb charity makes wigs for children with hair loss from cancer treatment – I really hope lots of people will support me.”
