-

A Highbridge sixth-form school student has gained a place at prestigious Oxford University.

Rory Edwards, a King Alfred School sixth form graduate, has been accepted into the university and will start at St Edmund Hall from the autumn where he will be reading Physics.

“Rory achieved outstanding A-level results in the sixth form with A* in Maths and A grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics,” said school spokeswoman Christine Platel.

“He has also been employed by the school this term as a classroom assistant and he has voluntarily supported science sessions for younger students.”

“Rory is due to leave for Bolivia in February for a few months where he will develop his Spanish while working on an environmental project.

“Rory was a fine role model for our sixth form students and we wish him all the best.”
