High-rise drama for fire crews in Burnham as roofing is blown free

-

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews were called to remove a long length of lead roofing from the top of a town centre building after it was damaged by gale-force winds on Tuesday (March 31st).

An aerial ladder platform from Bridgwater and a Burnham engine was sent to Victoria Street soon after 4pm following reports of a “dangerous structure”.

A spokesman said: “Crews got to work making the building safe and removed a length of lead which was hanging from the property.”

Part of Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street and Victoria Street were closed to traffic while crews were at the scene. There was also other damage during the day.
