Young, aspiring musicians in the Burnham-On-Sea area will be able to fine-tune their expertise during two rock school events this year.
Peter Gill, a professional musician, producer and tutor, has been running his rock schools for the last ten years and this year he’s been invited by The Princess Theatre in Burnham-On-Sea to present a two-day course at Easter and a week-long course in the summer.
Run by The Peter Gill Rock School, a Community Interest Company, the events are aimed at enthusiastic young musicians aged 11-19 years old who wish to improve their composition, band and general performance skills.
The cut-off date for applications is Friday 24th March so don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Two full days of great tuition and guidance for only £60. Call the Box Office on 01278 784464, or pop in.
“They will be tutored by professional musicians and hand-picked by Peter music students and graduates plus music producers and tutors, all hoping to give the budding musicians the head-start that they are looking for,” said a spokesman.
“As well as working on their musical abilities, the courses seek to build each attendee’s general confidence, improve their social skills, self-responsibility and competence. Inevitably every course sees the nurturing of new friendships amongst those with similar passions and interests.”
“At the end of each course all the efforts of the young musicians come together in a performance where each participant has the chance to showcase their new skills to their family and friends on the theatre stage.”
The Easter taster course will be held at The Princess Theatre on April 3rd and 4th. The charge to attend the course is £60 per individual – there will be some sponsored places available for those young people who face financial barriers. Those interested in attending should contact the theatre on 01278 784464.
