Building firm Costain – which is working on the Hinkley Point C project – has handed over a cheque to Burnham-On-Sea RNLI this week.
Representatives from the company visited Burnham-On-Sea’s lifeboat station to present a cheque for £2,825 to the charity.
The funding will help cover training costs of crewmembers Dan Fear (Probationary lifeboat crew) and Nathan Meager (Trainee Helmsman).
Construction Director Alex Smale, of Costain Limited said: “Costain are currently carrying out construction work in the Bristol Channel and as a responsible company we are always keen to support charities and good causes in the areas in which we operate.”
“Given our activities in the local area we made the logical choice to support the RNLI and in particular the Burnham station and we are proud to be able to help fund the training and development of the volunteer crew who will continue to provide this life saving service long after Costain have departed the area.”
Prospective supporters to the RNLI can visit Burnham’s Lifeboat shop in the High Street or for those interested in joining the lifeboat crew, they can visit the lifeboat station any Wednesday training session from 7pm onwards.
