Coin collector thanked for donations by Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat crew

-

A fundraiser who has collected hundreds of pounds worth of five pence coins for Burnham-On-Sea RNLI has been presented with a photo of the lifeboats as a thank you.

Ron Bowling and his wife Freda from Lancashire have been regular holiday visitors to Burnham for many years.

Around five years ago, Ron was so impressed with the welcome he received from the crew at the lifeboat station in Pier Street that he decided to start saving all his five pence pieces and then hand over them over during his regular trips.

In his latest visit last Wednesday he handed over 100, the result of two year’s saving, and to acknowledge the donation, Ron was presented with a framed print of the Burnham-On-Sea lifeboats entitled ‘Out on a Shout!’

Burnham RNLI Deputy Launch Authority Gerry Prout was received the donation and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We thank Ron for his continuing support, and his goodwill is very special to us.”
