Burnham-On-Sea lifeboats press officer Mike Lang has been presented with an inscribed statuette at a regional awards ceremony.
Many medals, bronze silver and gold, plus certificates of thanks, were presented by RNLI CEO Paul Boissier to the charity’s helpers at the Lighthouse Arts centre at Poole in Dorset.
Mike’s citation was read out by Tom Mansell, the RNLI’s Divisional Operations Manager for South West England.
Tom said: “Since the Burnham-On-Sea Lifeboat station was adopted by the RNLI, Michael has carried out the role of lifeboat press officer with great skill and enthusiasm.”
“He frequently identifies stories which will grab the interest of the media and maintains the high medial profile of the RNLI at Burnham in both the local and national news media.”
“On occasions, he has had to deal with sensitive stories, which he has done with professionalism. We are very grateful to Michael for his continuing voluntary service as LPO at Burnham and wish to recognise this with the award of a Statuette of a Lifeboatman.”
Mike added: “It is good to be recognized, but publicity at Burnham-On-Sea is very much a team effort, and I owe a lot to Helen, my deputy LPO, for her valued support.”
