Busy year for Burnham-On-Sea RNLI recounted at group’s AGM

-

Members of Burnham-On-Sea RNLI welcomed the charity’s divisional inspector for the south west to their AGM on Friday evening (March 12th), where a busy year of rescues was recounted.

Over 50 people attended the annual meeting at Burnham’s sailing club, where the audience was told about the activity of the town’s two lifeboats.

Operations Manager Ricky Holmes said it had been an “incredibly busy year” with 31 launches during the past 12 months.

The audience heard how last summer’s poor weather had hit several local fundraising events, although the Burnham lifeboat shop had still made healthy sales of £20,000 during the year. Jan Pearce, Treasurer of the local Fundraising Branch, also explained how income from donations had continued to be strong.

A new senior helm, Nick Edrich, and a new deputy helm, Jason Coombes, were appointed by Ricky Holmes (as pictured above).

Adrian Carey, RNLI Divisional Inspector for the south, explained the national picture of the charity, while Chairman Graham Wills praised the station’s volunteer team for their support.
