Two men became stranded for several hours in an inflatable boat in the River Parrett estuary, near Burnham-On-Sea, on Tuesday afternoon (March 17th).
The pair, pictured here, became trapped in their dinghy when it ran aground in the muddy estuary about two miles from Combwich.
A team of Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea were called to the scene and they were quickly able to confirm that the pair were safe onboard.
A Burnham lifeboat was launched at 6.15pm to check that the boat was able to safely refloat on the incoming tide.
The three RNLI crewmembers could not reach the boat until 8.35pm, when they were able to throw a line, drag the dinghy down the mud bank and return them to the safety of Combwich at 8.55pm.
A Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Both the people onboard were well equipped with safety equipment and food.”
“The lifeboat was launched as a precaution to check that they were able to successfully refloat.”
