Film lovers in Burnham-On-Sea are celebrating this week after the town’s cinema completed a £30,000 upgrade of its second screen, making it completely digital.
The Ritz in Victoria Street has invested in a second state-of-the-art digital projector system which will enable it to show crystal-clear 3D films and even live events, such as major sports and theatrical events.
Cinema owners Pat and Beryl Scott told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday that they are getting positive feedback from film fans.
Pat said: “We’re very excited about introducing a second digital projector system, which makes The Ritz fully digital for the first time.”
“Not only can we offer digital 2D and 3D films, but also alternative content, such as live opera and major sports events delivered by satellite.”
“The new projector system enables us to provide crystal clear pictures and superb sound in our second screen. Digital is the future of cinema and we didn’t want to get left behind.”
Pat and Beryl introduced their first digital projector system last year, as first reported here by Burnham-On-Sea.com.
David Pope, the director of UK operations at XDC International, which has installed the new digital projector and content delivery system, said this week: “The Ritz Cinema has a real community spirit, being a family-owned business that offers a high quality service.”
“Pat and his team have already embraced digital technology in screen one and we are very happy to be working with them to make The Ritz fully digital.”
