Highbridge Reverend ordained as a priest by Bishop of Taunton

-

The Reverend Christine Judson, Curate of St John’s Parish Church in Highbridge, was ordained as a priest on Saturday (28th June) by the Bishop of Taunton.

She was ordained alongside two of her fellow curates, the Revd Dr Gilly Bunce from Worle and the Revd Julie Sims from Winscombe.

Christine came to Highbridge in July 2007 after training for two years at Ripon College, Cuddesdon.

Previous to that she had been a science teacher in Gloucestershire and Weston-super-Mare. Her work over the last year has included adult confirmation training, chaplaincy at the local Asda store and leading a Festival of Light offering to young people an alternative to Halloween. She was also selected as the Mayor’s Chaplain.

Recently, she has taken charge of Highbridge’s Mission & Ministry Committee which looks at how we can serve the wider community. She will continue her training at St John’s for a further three years.

Revd Robin Lodge, vicar of St John’s Church, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Christine has been a valued member of the St John’s church family over the last year, and a good colleague. I look forward to the extra dimension to her work here that being a priest will bring.”
