A walk along the beach at Berrow, near Burnham-On-Sea, has provided the inspiration for an adventure story which has just gone on sale worldwide.
Linda Bond, pictured, was wandering along the sand, looking out at the sea, when she began wondering about the creatures that lived beneath the waves.
Her imagination took over and soon she had begun writing an enchanting tale about a mermaid.
Her book, called ‘Retishella and the Dolphins’, has just been published and is now on sale at several leading online booksellers, including Amazon.co.uk.
The enchanting tale follows a mermaid, called Retishella, in a fast-moving adventure after she falls ill and seeks a cure from a ‘dolphin king’. The book is sure to be a hit with youngsters.
Linda told Burnham-On-Sea.com that many publishers had liked her book but she found it difficult to find one that would go into print.
“I approached several publishers in the UK without much luck so tried online and found one in America – Publish America – who said they would love to print it. The book is now on sale and is proving popular.”
Linda, who works as an infant teacher, said listening to a storyteller at her school had also spurred her on to put pen to paper.
“The storyteller said everyone has a story in them and that anyone could write one.”
“I fully agree. I fully enjoyed writing this story and hope to release a second, follow-up book that will continue the story later in the year.”
