Tiny baby weasel rescued by carers from Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre

-

Burnham-On-Sea wildlife carers have rescued this tiny baby weasel found on a footpath near South Petherton and he is now recuperating at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre.

Section leader Dan Bryant has taken on the challenge of rearing the little creature who only weighed 20 grams.

After re-hydrating him with fluids Dan put the baby weasel, which has named Tormund, into an incubator to keep him warm.

“Tormund, who still has his eyes closed, was being fed every two hours on Royal Canin Babydog milk to start with and is now being fed every four hours on a mixture of milk and mashed kitten meat and his weight is now up to nearly 25 grams,” said Dan.

“The long term hope for Tormund is to feed him up and get him to a releasable age, to get him back into the wild.”
