Fundraisers who took part in Burnham-On-Sea’s first ever colour run have helped raise more than £2,000 for local charities.
260 people took part in the first Rescue Rainbow Run during Sunday’s rescue services day, getting showered with coloured paint as they made their way along the beach.
Burnham-On-Sea RNLI and BARB Search & Rescue jointly organised the successful event.
The participants walked, jogged or skipped the 3.5km route from Burnham’s jetty to the town’s iconic lighthouse and back whilst experiencing several explosions of rainbow coloured powder paint along the way.
The proceeds from entry fees were split between the RNLI and BARB to fund the work of the two charities.
Co-organiser Lesley-Ruth Hart said: “It’s been a great success and we are all delighted with the level of interest in this first run. There was a great atmosphere and we’re happy that a good amount has been raised for the two charities.”
The event organisers were Lesley-Ruth Hart and Dan Fear at the RNLI, and Mike Lowe at BARB.
