Hundreds of people attended Burnham-On-Sea’s Remembrance Service on Sunday to pay tribute to those who died in the two world wars.
Burnham’s MP Tessa Munt and Mayor Ken Smout were among 500 dignitaries, representatives of local groups and residents who gathered at the war memorial for the ceremony and lay wreaths, as pictured.
Two minutes’ silence was held at exactly 11am followed by the playing of the Last Post by trumpeter Phil Farr-Cox.
Reverend Eric Petrie led a short service which included the reading of the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ by Burnham war veteran Arthur Gilbert.
The service, which was held in bright winter sunshine under blue skies, ended with a recording of the National Anthem. The Burnham branch of The Royal British Legion organised the event.
