Hundreds of people attended Burnham-On-Sea’s Remembrance Service on Sunday to pay tribute to those who have died in conflicts.

Burnham’s Mayor Martin Cox was among the dignitaries, right, along with representatives of local groups and residents who gathered at the war memorial in Love Lane for the ceremony and to lay wreaths.

Two minutes’ silence was held at exactly 11am followed by the playing of the Last Post by trumpeter Phil Farr-Cox. Reverend Graham Witts led a short service.

The service, which was held in bright winter sunshine under blue skies, ended with a recording of the National Anthem. The Burnham branch of The Royal British Legion organised the event.

The Mayor told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was great to see such a great turnout on such an important day.”
