A steady flow of Burnham-On-Sea residents visited an exhibition that opened in the town on Thursday (March 6th) showing how the town centre could look in a few years’ time if multi-million pound regeneration plans get the go-ahead.
A wide range of photo-montages, maps and images show how the centre of Burnham could look if the ‘Civic Pride’ project gets the green light.
Tom Dougal, Sedgemoor’s Transport Policy Officer, who is pictured here discussing the scheme with local councillor Bob Filmer, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the first day has been busy.
“We’ve had a steady stream of people throughout the day – some have been concerned about car parking and the effects in the carnival – but people have largely been pleased to see the prospect of investment in the town,” he said.
As we reported last month, Sedgemoor’s Executive Committee approved the designs for the scheme and the project team now wants feedback from the public – hemce the reason for the three day exhibition.
The plans are on show to the public in Burnham Library on Friday 7th March from 9.30am to 7.30pm and Saturday 8th March from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Several photo-montages are on display at the exhibition showing how the High Street (above) and Victoria Street (below) will look if the ‘Civic Pride’ project to modernise and pedestrianise Burnham goes ahead.
