Dozens of yachts have been taking part in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual regatta this week, with sailing races being held up and down the river estuary.
The first race was held on Saturday afternoon (August 15th) and was followed by a duck race and a further sailing contest on Sunday.
Race officer and Commodore Ken Sowden told Burnham-On-Sea.com the first race had attracted 13 entries.
It was won by Kudos, skippered by Colin Morris. Second was Sprintide, skippered by Alan Robinson and in third place was Rascal (Arthur Pizzey).
The second race, held on Sunday afternoon, saw 19 entries and was won by Delta (Steve Short) and second was Melody (Geoff Tanner).
A colourful tender race will be held at 7pm this Saturday (August 22nd), starting on Burnham beach next to the jetty. An outdoor barbecue was also held on Saturday afternoon at Burnham Sailing Club and a Spanish evening will follow this Sunday (August 23rd) from 4.30pm.
