Two Burnham-On-Sea women will be celebrating their ‘re-birthdays’ today (Saturday, October 19th) following their Bone Marrow Transplants during a day of fundraising.
Joanna Burridge-Clayton and Suzie Harris will be marking their transplant ‘re-birthdays’ while raising funds and awareness for the charities and groups that have helped them during the event at The Princess Theatre from 2.30pm.
Suzie is just over a year from her transplant for Lymphoma and Joanna is just over two years from hers with Leukaemia.
“We want to celebrate still being here and share that with our family, friends and others who have been with us on our journeys,” Jo told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We really appreciate how everyone is pulling together to hopefully make these successful events happen – it’s great that different groups in the community are supporting us.”
The event will be raising money for Anthony Nolan, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and the Adult BMT Unit at Bristol Children’s Hospital where the ladies were both treated.
Saturday’s free afternoon event starts at 2.30pm and will feature various choirs and local singers as well as cakes and a wide selection of crafts and gifts to browse, plus a balloon modeller for children of all ages. There will also be chance to find out about signing up to be a bone marrow donor.
The evening event, starting at 8pm (doors 7.30pm), will feature two popular local bands – on first is up and coming ‘Six Machine’ to be followed later by the ever-popular ‘Ginger Hitlas’.
Tickets for this event cost only £5 and are available now from The Princess via the onloine box office or by calling 01278 784464, or you can pay on the door.
“We hope to see as many of our friends and people from our community there as possible. If you are unable to attend but still want to donate please visit our Just Giving sites.”
