A lucky Burnham-On-Sea resident who found this rare £1 coin in their change has made a mint by selling it for £205 on an auction website.
The anonymous Burnham resident has turned their good fortune into cash by selling the coin on eBay.
The new pound coin that has been made using the blank from an old pound coin in an apparent error.
The rare, very collectable coins can go for big money on eBay and other marketplace sites.
But if you check your change and find you haven’t got one, don’t be surprised. So far the website Change Checker has only found three of them – one of which was sold for £205 on eBay by the seller from Burnham-On-Sea.
Another is due to go to auction at an auction house in London on 21st February and is predicted to attract a bit of attention.
The Royal Mint have not yet formally confirmed whether the coins have been made by them and they could therefore be counterfeit.
However, recently a window cleaner found a pound coin that had two different dates printed on it which was expected it to sell for about £3,000.
