Met Office issues yellow warning of heavy rainfall in our area today

-

Heavy and persistent rain could cause flooding in the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Tuesday, May 14th), forecasters have warned.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of heavy rain across the region between 8am and midnight.

“A developing small-scale low pressure system is expected to run northeastwards across southern areas of England during Tuesday and Tuesday night when an arc of heavy and persistent rain is expected to form on the northern and western flank, with anything from 20 to 60 mm falling in the space of 6 to 12 hours,” said a Met Office spokesman.

“The public should be aware that the persistent and often heavy rainfall spreading from the southwest has the potential to cause some difficult driving conditions.”

“Surface water flooding is likely on stretches of the road network, and in places strong winds will lead to considerable spray.”
