Over 20 volunteers braved heavy rain to carry out a clean-up of Burnham-On-Sea’s beach at the weekend.
The Friends of Burnham Beach gathered at the town’s sailing club on Saturday morning (October 26th) for the latest beach clean evebnt.
Organiser Stephen Cooper, from the Friends, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Despite a wet and windy day and the world cup rugby semi final on TV, 22 brave souls ventured out for the latest beach clean and there was alot to keep them busy.”
“As well as the normal plastics items cleared included many cotton buds, lighters and syringes.”
“The cleaners had to give a wide berth to the body of a dead sheep washed up on the river bank.”
“Because of the amount of litter in the area it is planned to hold another clean before Christmas.”
