A man was killed after being struck by a train near Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday night (May 25th).
Police were called to a stretch of railway line close to Highbridge and Burnham Station where the body was found.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called shortly before 9pm following reports of a person being hit by a train near Highbridge and Burnham Railway Station.”
“Our officers attended alongside ambulance and police colleagues and discovered a young male had been struck and killed by a train.”
“Officers are now working with the family to identify the deceased and will provide support to the family.”
The spokesman added that the incident is not being treated as suspicious. Thoughts are with the family at this time.
