Former Bristol City striker Alan Walsh was in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday night (October 22nd) to present a pub owner with a nationwide award.
It follows The Railway Hotel being named as one of the UK’s top skittling venues during the Blackthorn British Skittle Championships.
The footballer, who was a succesful striker for Bristol City in the 1980s and is currently the club’s development coach, handed over a certificate to owner Danny Pearce, cheered on by the pub’s skittles team.
The pub has won the award for best skittles alley of the year award in recognition of its facilities and friendly staff – as voted for by players.
Mr Pearce told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re delighted to have beaten over 400 other pubs across the UK to win this award. It was an honour to receive the certificate from Alan.”
Mr Walsh was a successful striker for Middlesbrough, Darlington and Bristol City and is a Darlington legend for being their record scorer in the league with 87 goals.
