Members of Highbridge’s Friends of Apex Park have this week launched a project to halt the spread of a potentially poisonous weed.
The group is concerned at the rapid growth of ragwort in Apex Park’s wild flower meadow, which is gradually taking over the area.
The team are this week spraying the plant in a bid to try and halt its spread.
The group’s Joyce Beard told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Friends of Apex are battling against the growth of ragwort, which has sprung up in the wild flower meadow.”
“A sub-group under the leadership of Patrick Stokes has been spraying the ragwort this week and we hope to get it under control soon.”
Ragwort is difficult to shift if allowed to spread during the spring and early summer. It is also poisonous to some animals, such as horses.
