Mean thieves have stolen a seafront plaque that was installed on Burnham’s sea wall two years ago to celebrate 60 years of the town’s Royal Air Forces Association.
The plaque was officially unveiled during a special ceremony in 2006, but has been stolen this week, leaving an empty space on the wall, as pictured above.
Laurence Lillycrop of the Burnham branch of the Royal Air Forces Association told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s shocked us that someone would steal this wonderful plaque.”
“It was taken away over the last few days, possibly for scrap metal, which is so sad.”
Police are also investigating the theft and have asked anyone with information to get in contact via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The Royal Air Forces Association promotes the welfare of all serving and former members of the UK’s Air Forces, their spouses and dependents.
