Members of Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club have teamed up with Burnham Army Cadets to pick up litter on both sides of Queen’s Drive this week.
It really doesn’t take long for both verges to be liberally sprinkled with rubbish, which ranges from cigarette ends to wheel disks and large plastic boxes, planks of wood and even drainpipes.
“We had the inevitable wheel disc, a large plastic box and this time a signpost,” said spokesman Stuart Adams.
“The Army Cadets are invaluable helpers because they are able to get down into the ditches either side of Queens Drive and retrieve the rubbish.”
“I can’t believe our own residents would knowingly deposit their unwanted stuff in their own town so it must be visitors.”
