Residents of all ages came together in Burnham-On-Sea for a ceremony to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on Thursday (April 21st).
A flag-raising ceremony was led by Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor Cllr Michael Clarke besides the town water fountain in Pier Street.
The Mayor, Mayor’s Cadet, Deputies, town councillors, residents, clergy and representatives from the Armed Forces gathered for the ceremony.
At 11am, the Union Flag was formally raised, followed by a blessing and prayers by Rev Sharon Eldergill from St Andrew’s Church.
Burnham’s Town Crier Alistair Murray, pictured, read a Royal statement from the Loyal Order of Town Criers.
Those present sang the National Anthem while the flag was raised, followed by a rousing rendition of ‘happy birthday’.
Mayor Cllr Michael Clarke said the event had been a “wonderful occasion.”
