Burnham to hold three days of family fun to mark Queens’ 90th birthday

Burnham-On-Sea will celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday with a weekend of special events in June.

Three days of family entertainment are to be held on the seafront and beach as part of the town’s celebrations.

It will get underway on Friday June 10th with a paper plane competition from 12-2pm and ‘chaos football’ from 2-4pm, with all welcome.

On Saturday June 11th, a tug of war challenge will be held from 12-2pm. Teams can call 01278 238714 to get involved.

Also on Saturday, there will be a royal fancy dress competiton from 2-3pm followed by a Queen’s birthday concert from 3pm-6.30pm featuring local groups and performers.

This will be followed from 6.30-7.30pm by a beach party with ‘Elvis’ next to the jetty and main beach.

The fun will continue on Sunday June 12th with zorb balls on the beach from 11am-5pm, and a sand boat race at 2pm, concluding with a Youth Parade at 4pm and displays by youth groups with performances by local groups and performers.

“It will be a fantastic weekend,” said organiser Gaynor Brown from BOSH Events. “We have had a lot of interest from local groups wanting to get involved.”
