Final rehearsals are underway for Burnham District Pantomime Society’s annual show which opens on January 24th.
Puss In Boots is sure to be a hit with audiences when it is held at the town’s Princess Theatre from Friday January 24th until Saturday February 1st.
“This is a traditional Pantomime for all the family. It centres on a poor Millers son, Jack, who has dreams of bettering himself and marrying a beautiful Princess. His only possession is the mill cat Puss, who is clever and can talk,” said Mo Cooper, Chairman of Burnham District Pantomime Society.
“He works out a plan to make his master into the Marquis of Carrabas and he also helps Jack to deal with the terrible shape-changing ogre who is masquerading as Sir Roger and also trying to win the Princesses hand in marriage. To find out who will succeed in the quest and what happens along the way to Jack Puss and the other folk in this story, you will have to come and watch!”
Those in the key roles are Nick Elswood (King Herbert), Katie Shepard (Princess Alice), Emma Twigg (Queen Mildred), Melvyn Shephard (Dame), Jenna Pickton (Jack), Laura Sandford-Hughes (Puss), Alastair Murray (Lord Roger), Gabbie Blair (Nosmo), Shannon Manlow (Narrator) and Joe Harrington (Nopar).
The junior chorus comprises Louisa Arthur, Daisy-May Karks, Elena Mitchell, Freyba Buttery, Eleni Markoutsas and Zoe Loveridge. The senior chorus comprises Harry Nicholls, Zoe Nichsolson, Emily Elswood, Lorna Davey, Harley Shadbolt, Owen Twigg, Georgia Twigg, Archie Williams, Tom Manlow, Rachel Major, Emily Bees, Juliet Bissell, Angelina Mitchell, Rory Shadbolt and Kody Shadbolt.
Among those taking part are local dancers from Burnham’s Dance Fit Studio. The Pantomime Dancers include Jemma Dernum, Zoe Oakley, Symone Wright and Beth Lewis.
Mo added: “We have wonderful costumes, music, songs, lights and colourful scenery, all put together by the society’s production teams under the direction of Lorna Blair. A warm welcome awaits from our Front of House team.”
Evening performances start at 7pm and there are 3.30pm matinees on Saturday 25th January and Sunday 26th January.
