Burnham police warn shoppers to be extra vigilant after purse thefts

-

Shoppers and holidaymakers in the Burnham-On-Sea area have been urged to be extra vigilant following several purse thefts over the past week.

Burnham Police say two incidents of handbag dipping have been reported in Brean and a further theft occurred at Highbridge’s Asda store over the past week.

Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We ask shoppers and holidaymakers to be extra vigilant and aware of their personal safety.”

“Just a slight lapse can give a thief the couple of seconds they need to dip into an open handbag and steal valuables.”

“Never leave handbags unattended in shopping trolleys or under tables at cafes or pubs.”
