Burnham-On-Sea school students meet author for reading challenge prize

-

Year 6 pupils from Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Junior School visited the town’s library this week to meet children’s author Tamsin Cooke.

The meeting was a special prize for the pupils after the school produced the most reviews of Tamsin’s ‘Cat Burglar’ during the recent Somerset Big Read Challenge.

The children enjoyed learning about how to be a writer and shared some of Tamsin’s ideas. She also read and, with the help of the children, re-enacted extracts from some of her books.

“It was a particularly special day for two of our students who were announced as individual prize winners for their reviews and they received a signed copy of ‘Mission Gone Wild’,” said teacher Jim Gillard.

“Everyone had an interesting and memorable time. It was great to meet a professional author and great that our school had won a prize for our work during the Somerset Big Read Challenge.”
